A Prayer for Anyone Walking Through Loss

Lord, in the Word I read, “Jesus wept” and that through this very real reaction to the loss of Jesus’ beloved, we ask that you meet our heartbreak, not to remove it, but to soothe it and to draw us closer to you and know how you suffered.

For Christ felt the feelings we are experiencing, raw emotion, piercing pain, and the hollow desolation from anticipated loss.

In this overwhelming grief, please help us to be comforted by knowing you are acquainted with suffering, may we lean into your comforting embrace, Spirit to spirit, for consolation, for whispers of love and your many comforts.

Give us strength to accept this road ahead because we are in gratitude for the one we love, that you would see fit to bring us together on life’s journey at this time.

May we carry the knowledge and understanding at a deeper level that you are intimate with our agony, provide us the peace this world does not offer. May we love you more deeply and love you more dearly because Jesus wept.
